Joshua's Story

Josh's Story...

Anyone that knows Josh or has ever met Josh knows what a blessing he is not only to his
family, but to anyone who catches glimpse of that contagious smile. As good-looking as
he is on the outside it doesn't even shadow what he has on the inside. The middle child of
three, he is a strong and very athletic kid, the first one to be in the middle of the games
always competing until he wins. He loves the Lord as well as the outdoors and takes after
his grandfather who's idea of a great day  would be sitting in a hunting stand with a gun all
day waiting for the next 10-pointer to walk by. You will rarely meet someone with as much
life as Josh has- he is filled with energy and ambition. Not only is he filled with energy, but
he is filled with the right kind. Despite his tough exterior he is soft in his heart filled with
compassion and love that he was taught from his parents.

On May 31st Josh was taken to the emergency room, his face was numb and he felt really
dizzy. The doctors did a cat scan and did not find anything, so they injected him with some
dye and the second time they found a small tumor on the back of his head near the spine.
His parents then took him to a neurologist in Atlanta, so on
June 1st they headed over to
Atlanta where they would find out that this tumor was a really bad one called a brain stem
glioma which is located on the spinal cord. The doctor came in and told them some very
uncomforting news that to the average human would appear to be a cold and scary fact-
Josh might not make it. It is by God's will that Josh is defying those odds over and over!
But as we were taught in church just the week before there is a difference between fact
and TRUTH. Fact is what we as humans understand as laws that we are bound to here on
earth. The TRUTH is that God created what we categorize as facts and is able to "break"
the rules. The TRUTH is that God has bigger and better plans.
